Pavel Durov was accused of stealing crypto passport technology

By Julia Korol

An unnamed developer of solutions in the sphere of financial technologies sued the founder of Telegram Pavel Durov because of the alleged theft of technology for one of the services of the platform he developed. This is written by RIA Novosti with reference to the statement of the plaintiff who appealed to the Zamoskvoretsky court of Moscow.

The plaintiff claims that the Telegram team awarded a technology development, which it was shown at a closed meeting.

“In May 2018, the defendant announced the development of a cryptographic passport that copies the functionality, interface and operating principle of a unique product developed by our team. This product is almost identical to our design, which was presented to the respondent on a private demonstration on February 1, 2018, while the author of the product incorrectly indicated the “Telegram command”, controlled by the respondent,” the statement of claim says.

As noted by RIA Novosti, the lawsuit was filed not to Telegram, but personally to Pavel Durov. The plaintiff motivates this by the fact that Durov takes the decision.

The development company claims that it spent about 800,000 euros to create the program and asks to acknowledge copyright for it, as well as oblige Durov to “stop violating these rights.”

Pavel Durov himself did not comment on the situation.

Earlier it became known that the Telegram Passport service would be integrated into the TON platform, for financing which Telegram attracted $1.7 billion through the ICO, which will allow it to identify its users and to evade the anonymity of cryptocurrency payments.
